Invisible Familiars Premiere "Digger's Invitation"
Invisible Familiars are offering a stream of the B-side "Digger's Invitation," via Soundcloud, the track existing exclusively on the band's limited edition "Clever Devil" single. While technically an artifact of the album-recording process, the song is Jared Samuel's deluxe icebreaker both for Invisible Familiars' new record and their ecstatic live show. "I would call it a zany sex romp," he writes, "but for some reason that makes me think of Marty Feldman and Dom Deluise, and though I love those two, I'd rather less of them and more 1970s Madeline Kahn please." Samuel's beckoning vocal presses against guitarist Robbie Mangano's extraterrestrial wailing, repeating and escalating until you look up and realize they've got you exactly where they want you: in the dirt, singing along.
Invisible Familiars have just announced an upcoming date in New York City at Brooklyn's Glasslands on October 3 with People Get Ready and Dave Harrington (of Darkside). The band will also be performing October 23 at Other Music Recording Co.'s CMJ Showcase at Union Pool in Brooklyn, where they'll previewing their debut full-length (due out on Other this winter) alongside labelmates Xylouris White, 75 Dollar Bill and Tall Tales & the Silver Lining.
